Woke up listening to Sylphie's second mixtape, which is fantastic, mixing Brendan Perry, Gogol Bordello, Coeur de Pirate, Sopor Aeternus and many artists I never heard about. I had a great time! Coeur de Pirate “Fondu Au Noir” is one of the most heart breaking tracks I've heard in a long time.
Listened to some Blush Response, Sepultura, WULFband, Mild Peril, Haujobb – Freez Frame Reality, Mend, Dead Voices On Air – New Year, and fell asleep with Forma Tadre – Navigator.
Hey, what's up with all the ambient stuff? It's funny, 10 years ago you'd have had to pay me to listen to that stuff. Now I seem to want more and more. I suppose I used to be mostly into oontz, if I'm honest, and since then I grew a sensibility to more elaborate music and mostly more elaborate beats. I still love oontz when the time is right but I realize my taste is evolving without my realizing so. When I lookup my last.fm recommendation I'm all like “wtf, it has nothing to do with what I listen to?” And then I think for a second and yes, it totally does.
It's reassuring too. I was starting to wonder how much it made sense to listen to fast-paced music literally all the time to channel my hyperactive energy, if it wasn't counter-productive andif it wouldn't backfire at some point. Now I'm naturally turning to downtempo music quite often, and I don't feel I'm on the verge of cardiac arrest all the time. All good! :P
Tonight is the TR/ST concert! I'm nervous since I haven't been going out in many years due to my health and my stupid unhealthy working habits. I hope I can enjoy it and that it won't put me in bed for the next following days. The good thing is that it's at La Maroquinerie, so very close from home (20min by foot or a 5 min bus ride) and it's very early, so there's just the crowd and the standing up for hours thing to cope with. Wish me luck! I'm going with Clémentine, I'm sure it'll be great. :)
