Daily things: good day
Jul. 30th, 2015 11:50 amI have left this blog a bit unattended but I'm doing good. Back from anatsuno's, and I already booked train tickets to go back in August. :)
I did a monster workout yesterday that gave me energy for the whole day afterwards.
Music
Woke up with the new Android Lust, which I'm seriously loving. I never got into her previous work all that much, for some reason, but this one is just fantastic. Then I put some Hologram_ and then Cocksure on to get me started and had a nice Lush bath (yeah that sounds counter intuitive, but it helps me with morning aches). Then some Ghost & Writer and Sonic Area later in the day.
Crafting
I had a quick lunch and started spinning, plying my very last plying ball from my Malabrigo top project. It's now all done, it took me over a year and I'm super proud. I think I have 505m/110g, so a light fingering/heavy lace. No project for it yet. I have started spinning my other, green Malabrigo top right away, in the same fashion (same spindle, same thickness and will probably 2-ply it) so I could possibly use them together on a large project. The two colours compliment each other nicely.
Watching
While spinning, I finally watched the semi-finale and finale of Masterchef AU. What a lovely show. Everyone is so adorable and nice to each other. I cried, I'm not going to lie. I loved the two final contestants equally but the winner totally deserves it (esp since she handles stress a lot better than the other one).
Photography
I took a quick OOTD photo. Clémentine and I made a sales order at Cora Kemperman and we both bought the same mesh dress. It is great. Very sportswear style, but with an asymmetric and slightly poofy cut. I wore it with a sports brassiere and leggings, thus exposing my midriff, which was VERY unusual for me. I wasn't sure I could pull it off and dare go outside like that but I did.
Out and about
I headed out for a nice walk, stopping by Cream first for a takeaway coffee, and then went to walk along the canal and back through Jaurès. Math helped me buy some new trainers and they are just wonderful. I have PITA feet and summer is always quite tough because just looking at them wrong gives me blisters. But these shoes are made of super fine Italian leather (doubled), sooo soft and supple. I didn't even have to break them in. They're the same brand, and generally same shape, as my winter boots (Pataugas) and I've had them for 5 years now I think. Also, they're made in Europe and they're not super expensive (not more than a pair of big brand China-made trainers).
Watching
I had Math watch the pilot of Awake and he found it really good. I've been wanting to rewatch this show for a while, so we're doing it together. It was a very short-lived drama/investigation/fantastic show, cancelled after only one season but the writers managed to wrap it up nicely. The cast is splendid: Jason Isaacs is gorgeous as always, Steve Harris (Eugene from the Practice) is great as the goofy and sarcastic partner, Wilder Valderrama (Fez from That 70's Show, boy has he changed!) is great, BD Wong is doing his best BD Wong impersonation, the actress who plays the wife is very good and mostly, the character of the angsty teenage boy is one of the most touching and convincing I've seen in drama TV. There's only 13 episodes and it's really worth seeing (it deals with loss of spouse/child so it's pretty heavy at times).
We also watched some Brooklyn Nine Nine and surprise! We realised one episode was missing from the folder and turns out I somehow managed to skip it when it aired! Brand new, never-seen-before episode for me! And it's the episode of the 7-days stakeout with Jake and Charles and Terry drawing a children's book with Holt as a walrus, I mean.
Reading
I'm starting to get into the Mechanical (over a third in). I read very little every day because of how the laroxyl makes me sleepy still, but it's okay. Enjoying every bit of it.
I fell asleep listening to Gridlock. I have a migraine today, but the pain is gone, I'm just super wobbly. I hope I'll be better tomorrow as we're going to the Jeanne Lanvin exhibition with Clémentine.
