I was just doing yoga and a random memory came up to my mind.
It was secondary school, probably quite early because we were learning the basics in English. We were learning the vocabulary to describe oneself. Tall, short, curly hair, straight hair, etc... And we were supposed to describe oneself out loud to the classroom. Including one's weight. So I said I'm Sophie, I'm short and slim and I remember vividly the teacher correcting me: “Plump, you're not slim, you're plump”. In front of everyone.
I had totally forgotten about that episode. And I remember how the fat kids were mortified to have to say they were fat in front of everyone. I think it shaped (pun intended) the way I have seen myself quite a lot. I was maybe 12 or 13 then, the slimmest I've ever been. With a little tummy and round checks, okay. Here's a photo of me then. Not that you can see much. But it reeks of self esteem, doesn't it? I wouldn't be surprised if it was taken the day of that stupid English exercise.

Edit: I mean to write more about this but I'm expected at a barbecue, so I will have to do that later!
